MOVIE REVIEW: Rise of the Planet of the Apes
By Anonymous on 06 Aug
In a summer of superhero movies Rise of the Planet of the Apes may surprise you, maybe for the worst.
While watching trailers leading up to this weeks premeier one may suspect Rise of the Planet of the Apes would be a 2 hour end of the world movie starring our furry friends knocking us off one by one. Well, one would be extreamly disapointed.
The film features almost an hour and a half of drawn out character building of the main protagonist, Ceaser the chimp, and his building of knowledge and power. While it was assumed that Ceaser's transformation from normal ape to human-like would be the supporting storyline, it was rather owerwhleming in its dedication of time in the film.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes features some of the most state of the art visual effects in the portrayal of the apes and their human characteristics. If nothing else this is a film worth seeing for the stunning and creative synergy between CGI and live action shots.
The film leaves something to be desired and does little to move the franchise along. It offers less then expected from an action stand point, but, does fully develop memorable and complex characters.
